YouTube has made a not-so-subtle change to a feature that everyone sees, and most users have started to hate it already.

Kim Larson, global managing director and head of creators at YouTube, said the Google-owned video platform is planning to give the Academy Awards “a little bit of a zhuzh-up.” Asked during a panel Wednesday at NATPE in Miami about the 2029 kickoff of the rights deal,

YouTube TV is adding chapters to DVR recordings, allowing users to easily navigate to specific sections they want to watch.

YouTube Premium has some useful features that could be accessed via workarounds even by those without a subscription. However, Google has now patched it.

Upgrading to YouTube Music costs only $11/month, compared to Spotify Premium's $13/month price tag. However, Spotify continues to offer lyrics to users on its free tiers. While the company briefly tested paywalled lyrics, it didn't proceed with the plan and continues to provide lyrics to both free and paying subscribers.

YouTube's total revenue last year surpassed that of rival streamer Netflix as it seeks to dominate TVs.

The video is now available on Apple Music and Spotify, but it isn't landing on YouTube for a couple more days.
